January 21 is National Clam Chowder Day

There comes a time in every person’s life when he or she must contemplate the most difficult question of all: New England or Manhattan? At CPS, we’ve pondered this question for countless hours, and have finally come up with the best answer: both. When it comes to our love for food, we don’t discriminate. And as National Clam Chowder Day approaches, we’re preparing to celebrate the best way we know how — eating!

As one of our favorite holidays approaches, we feel it’s appropriate to give you a mouth-watering description of this wonderful soup. New England clam chowder has a milk or cream soup base and is filled with chunky potatoes, flavorful onions, and juicy clams. Manhattan has a tomato broth and often vegetables, such as tomato chunks and carrots, are added. Both varieties are served with crunchy saltine crackers. Various regions have their own take on this favorite soup including Rhode Island, Down East, and Outer Banks. Many restaurants invent their unique variation of clam chowder. Hungry yet? We are, as usual.

Now that you’ve worked up an appetite, make sure all of your chowder-making equipment is serviced and ready to go. CPS is proud to service all your equipment so you’ll be fully prepared to make the most delicious clam chowder ever. We are authorized to service Hamilton Beach blenders to give your soup the perfect consistency, as well as a range (pardon the pun) of ranges including Wolf, Jade, and Imperial. Once your equipment is serviced, all you’ll need to celebrate is a soup pot, a ladle, clams, clams, and more clams.

Whether you’re going to enjoy Manhattan, New England, or invent your own “Ohio-style” chowder, just make sure you take some time to reflect on the importance of chowder making equipment as you stuff your face.
