Spring Cleaning for Commercial Kitchen

Spring is in the air, which means it’s time for some spring cleaning! When it comes to Commercial Kitchens, a thorough spring cleaning is an important part of maintaining your high standards of cleanliness. Below, you’ll find a list of some of our top tips for making the most of your spring cleaning.

  1. Get your staff motivated!
Spring cleaning is a lot of work, but it doesn’t have to be a miserable experience. Consider closing your restaurant for a day to give your staff a chance to really focus on their cleaning. While you clean together as a team, play some fun music and buy some pizza and soda for lunch. In addition to cleaning the restaurant, be sure to show your staff you value the pride they take in their work, too. Giving out new uniform shirts or hats can show your staff that you appreciate them!
  2. Start in the freezers
Chances are, your freezers have been through a lot this year. As careful as you and your staff may be, some items have probably been pushed to the back of the freezer when they ought to have been thrown away a long time ago. In addition, there have probably been spills that were never cleaned up completely. To thoroughly clean your freezers, you should remove everything from them, including all shelving units. These shelving units should be cleaned thoroughly and inspected for any issues. If they are bent or damaged in any way, they should be replaced. Then, the floors and walls of the freezer should be cleaned thoroughly. After that, the shelves should be replaced and carefully labeled. Finally, the food should be returned to the appropriate shelves after all dates have been checked. Anything that is expired should be discarded.
  3. Get all the nooks and crannies
Spring cleaning is your chance to clean areas of your kitchen that may have been overlooked throughout the year. This means moving all of your tables and appliances and scrubbing the floors, walls, and even the ceilings. When your spring cleaning is complete, you should be confident that every inch of your kitchen has been scrubbed thoroughly.

We hope these tips will help you to get your commercial kitchen feeling as fresh as the spring breeze. In addition to cleaning your kitchen thoroughly, be sure to have your hoods and fire suppression equipment inspected for safety.
